Precious Stones
Imagine holding in your hands a bundle of precious stones. Each one perfectly cut, with smooth edges and glossy surface. Each stone is a beautiful end product of a powerful process that defines and refines them, giving them character and shine. But without this all important process, how else could these very same stones that we now treasure have achieved their most prized estate? Our life journey can be much like a rock tumbler and we, the rough stones that are tossed into it along with abrasive grit to help polish us. Throughout our life journey, we are subjected to forces that help us to define and refine our characters, to understand ourselves, know our strengths and weaknesses, and what we value most. But no matter how or in what way that process may take place in our lives, if we endure it well, that is to say, if we follow the saviour’s doctrine, then the process of refinement will not be too much for us to bare and we will learn from it.
